More info

With this Tamahagane Bamboo Kyoto Chef Knife, you'll feel like a Japanese chef whils preparing your meals. Beautiful and versatile, this Japanese knife is perfect for cutting fruits, vegetables, and even meats. It is the most polyvalent knife that you can have in your kitchen as you can use it for all types of cuts: slicing, dicing, mincining, and more!

This gyuto (Japanese term for a chef knife) knife stands out both for its great quality and its dazzling design. From the tip of the blade to the end of the handle, this knife has been designed to meet all your expectations in terms of functionality and aesthetics. You cannot expect anything less from this or any other knife from the Bamboo Kyoto series of the Japanese brand Tamahagane.

Sharp, solid, and gorgeous are just three of the many different qualities that one can list about the blade of this knife. Its VG5 steel core has 0.7% - 0.8% of carbon content, which enables the blade to reach a high hardness level of 61 HRC in the Rockwell scale. This high level of hardness helps the knife to keep a razor sharp edge for a long time.

We must also specify that the VG5 steel is also more resistant to corrosion than the renowned VG10 steel, and this is thanks to a lower presence of cobalt. And even though the VG10 steel has a higher content of carbon (around 1%), the VG5 steel is still highly robust and rigid.

Furthermore, the core is covered by 63 layers SUS410 steel, which is what gives the blade the original and beautiful damascus look. The combination of soft and hard steel layers not only improves the look of the blade but it also provides the perfect balance between rigidness and flexibility.

Another remarkable feature is its handle. It is made of stainless steel, thus it is easy to maintain as it does not absorb bacteria and has good resistance to corrosion. However, what will probably amaze you the most from the handle is its original design that makes it look like a bamboo stem.

A knife like this one must be treated as what it is: a masterpiece of cutlery. Therefore, to preserve its quality and beauty, we recommend you to only wash it by hand. You simply need to wash it with a sponge, and once you're done, make sure to dry it and store it in a safe place.
