The Kasumi Combination Whetstone Grit 240/1000 is high quality accessory that can be of great use in any kitchen. It is ideal for sharpening effectively and efficiently your kitchen knives with steel blades. Given that this whetstone has two sides with 2 different grits, you'll be able to obtain better and more complete sharpening results.

Here is a brief explanation of the 2 different grains present in this stone:

- Grit 240 (the lower, pink part) has coarse grains that are ideal for restoring the edge of blund knives. This side should only be used with knives that haven't been sharpened in a long time and require their edges to be redefined because these coarse grains are highly abrasive.

- Grit 1000 (the upper, white part) has finer grains that allow you to make the final sharpening of the blade. This side should be used only after you have used the other side of the stone. Even though this side has finer grains, it still remains a very abrasive grit, so high end kitchen knives with rigid blades should not be sharpened with this stone.

A great advantage of this whetstone is that it comes with its own plastic stand. Whenever you are going to sharpen your knives, you simply put the stone on the stand, and this will help you reduce the risk of the stone moving around while you slide the blade of the knife across the stone's surface.

The dimensions of ths sharpening stone are the following: 18 x 6.2 x 2.5 centimeters. With this size, you'll be able to easily carry your stone in your chef roll bag or to store it in the drawer of your kitchen without occupying too much space. We recommed you, though, to be careful with the transport of the stone as strokes can make it break.

To get the best possible results from using a whetstone, it must first be soaked in water for about 5 to 10 minutes. Then, while the sharpening process is taking place, you must make sure that the whetstone stays always slightly wet. To help you maintain a constant angle between the blade an the stone to guarantee a uniform sharpening, you could use a sharpening angle guide.

Great stones
- -. on 03/07/2018 I did a few really badly edged knives, takes some time but results were razor sharp knives again. If you have a lot of needing to re-profile knives the 240 grit will only last a dozen or so knives. Keep on top of the edges and no need for the 240 grit.
