More info

Wusthof is one of the preferred brands of kitchen knives among home and professional cooks from all around the world. With more than 200 years of expertise, this German brand manufactures product of high quality for the kitchen using the latest technology in their factories.

Despite being mainly known for its kitchen knives, Wusthof also manufactures other kitchen accessories of great quality. For instance, the Wusthof Combination Whetstone 3000/8000 shown in this page is an accessory of great quality that is indispensable in every kitchen. It is the ideal accessory for sharpening your kitchen knives with steel blades.

This whetstone has two faces with different grit levels, which allow you to get complete sharpening results. The difference in the grit levels are defined by the abrasiveness of the grains that make up the whetstone. The two different grains found in this whetstone are described below:

- Grains 3000: since this is the coarser part of this stone, this part is ideal for the initial sharpening of the blade.

- Grains 8000: this part is composed of ultra fine grains. This part must be used for the final sharpening of the blade after you have used the grains 3000.

It is important to mention that, even though that this whetstone has one side that is coarser than the other; this whetstone is meant to be used with high-quality knives that have blades with a high level of hardness. This whetstone is not good to use with blunt knives or blades made of steel with a hardness level inferior to 58 HRC in the Rockwell Scale.

Last but not least, as with any type of whetstone, it is recommendable to soak the stone 10 to 15 minutes in water before using it. The stone must always remain slightly wet while sharpening your knives to avoid damaging the edge of the blades.

We invite you to discover the great collection of whetstones available on our website and choose the best one for your kitchen's needs. The best sharpening accessories for your kitchen knives are at MyChefKnives.co.uk!
