This sharpening steel has an oval rod made of stainless steel. It has a length of 30 centimeters, thus it can be used to sharpen steel knives with blades that are 30cm or shorter.

You start by holding the steel vertically in one hand while resting the end of the rod on a secure surface. Next, you have to angle the blade of the knife and pass the edge of the blade along the steel in continuous “sweeping” repetitions. This is illustrated in the picture below.
