More info

If you are a fan of Japanese cutlery, you must be familiar with Kasumi Masterpiece kitchen knives. This Japanese brand is one of the most respected in the culinary world for making high-quality knives with excellent cutting performance and long-lasting sharpness. Indeed, these knives prove that despite the modern technology in the field of cutlery, the ancient techniques are still capable of meeting the expectations of our present days.

To appreciate the high-quality products made by Kasumi, we suggest you to equip your kitchen with the Kasumi Masterpiece Boning Knife, which is a super handy and elegant knife that is going to be of great use for your cooking routine. This knife is ideal for portioning, deboning and parting your big pieces of meat with the minimum effort required. To reach the highest standards of quality, this knife was manufactured in a 5-step process conducted by Japanese craftsmen :

1- The forging of the blade, done by a craftsman who is from the 25th generation of a long line of blacksmiths

2- The first manual sharpening is then carried out by a craftsman who has worked for more than 30 years as a master cutler,

3- Next, the second sharpening with water is performed by one of Japan’s most renowned craftsmen,

4- Damascus effect: a very detailed step done by a craftsman trained by his father, who was in turn a recognized specialist throughout Japan. He uses the technique called "halo" to create this damask. The pattern is thus finer, which allows the blade's thread to be harder, hence sharper.

5- Finally, the creation of the handle is carried out by a craftsman with more than 40 years of experience in the field, and who is specialized in the creation of Masterpiece handles.

In addition, it is important to mention that the materials used are of great quality, too. For example, the blade of this boning knife has a VG10 steel core with 1% of carbon and 32 layers of hard and soft steel alternately applied around it. This composition results in a super beautiful and effective damascus blade.

The handle is made of micarta, which is a material made from fabric and resin compressed under high pressure. This composite material is very resistant to moisture and heat. Moreover, the solidity and robustness of this handle is guaranteed by its two rivets and steel bolster.

In order to preserve the beauty and quality of this knife, we highly recommend you to only wash it by hand and avoid the prolonged contact with water, In addition, make sure to sharpen the blade (whenever it needs it) using only whetstones with ultra fine grains. Any other sharpening accessory could actually damage the blade's edge.

We invite you to take a look at our collection of kitchen knives from the Kasumi Masterpiece series and equip your kitchen with top-quality Japanese cutlery. At MyChefKnives you can choose your favourite knives from the best brands in the world !
