More info

This Dick Professional Sharpening Steel 25cm is the ideal accessory for keeping the blades of your knives always sharp. It is designed for professional use (you can also use it at home), thus it is perfect for butchers and cooks who require fast results when honing their knives before each usage.

Main characteristics:

- The round rod has a length of 25cm, which means that it is perfect for honing blades that are 25cm long or shorter. It has a galvanized coating that enhances its resistance to corrosion.

- Fine cut: this steel is meant to be used for the maintenance of already sharp blades. The fine grit polishes and restores the sharp edge of your knives used in a daily basis. For blunt blades, a steel with a more abrasive cut would be recommended.

- Its red handle has an ergonomic design that lets you hold the steel firmly and comfortably. It has a big enouh guard between the handle and the rod so that your fingers remain well-protected when you hone a sharp blade.

- The loop at the end of the handle enables you to hang the steel anywhere in your kitchen to have it always easily accesible when needed.

How to use it:

We know that using a sharpening steel might seem sometimes as challenging task, but it is actually simple and easy to learn with just a little bit of practice. You have to hold the steel vertically in one hand while resting the end of the rod on a secure surface. Then, you have to angle the blade of the knife between 10 and 15 degrees and pass the edge of the blade along the steel in continuous “sweeping” repetitions. All this is illustrated in the image below:

When it comes to sharpening steels, Dick is definitely one of the best brands in the world. Since its foundation in 1778, this German brand creates high-quality products that are widely used by professional and home cooks throughout the entire world. Even though its reputation lies mostly on its sharpening steels, Dick also offers a wide range of knives and other kitchen products.
