This Wusaki sharpening stone is the ideal accessory to maintain the blades of your kitchen knives and keep them sharp at all times. Because using knives with sharp blades is actually safer, this whetstone can be quickly become of the most important accessories in your kitchen.

Thanks to its double sided design with two different grains, this whetstone allows you to get better and more complete results. You can start by using the side with a coarser grit and finish the edge of your knife's blade by using the side with a finer grit. Below you'll find a brief explanation about each grit:

- Grit 1000 (the yellow part): medium-fine grains recommended for the regular maintenance of a blade. It is not too abrasive or too fine, thus it is perfect for blades with a medium level of hardness. This grit is perfect to finish the honing of a blunt knife previously sharpened with a coarser grit, or to do the initial sharpening of a hard blade that you will then finish with a finer grit.

- Grit 6000 (the white part): ultra fine grains ideal to finish the sharpening of your blade and give it a razor sharp edge. This side of the stone is to be used only after you have previously used the 1000 grit side. The fine grains in this side enable you to polish and finish the work started with coarser grains. This grit is perfect for Japanese knives with ultra rigid blades.

The total dimensions of this whetstone are the following: 18 x 6 x 3 centimeters. It comes with a black stand where you can put the stone to guarantee a safer usage. The stand is made of silicone, which is a material that creates a nonslip effect that keeps your whestone still when you pass the blades across the stone's surface.

Here are some quick instructions for how to use this stone:

- soak the stone in water about 15 minutes before usage.

- take out the stone of the water an place it on a flat, stable surface.

- place the superior half of the blade at 45° in relation to the stone's surface.

- apply a slight pressure with your index and midle finger over the blade and adjust the angle to between 10 and 15°.

- slide the blade back and forth and you'll see that fillings will start to come off the blade's edge. This is normal as that is what proves that the blade is being sharpened. Add a bit of water to keep the stone wet if necessary. To check if the blade has reached the desired sharpness, you can test the blade by cutting a sheet of paper.

It is recommended that each knife is always sharpened by the same person, because different people might hold the blades at different angles during the sharpening process. If the angle always remain the same, the blade should remain sharp for longer time!
