Wusaki knives are made in a small cutlery factory in the north of Canton in the Guangdong province in Western China. The production takes place in China, but the manufacturing standards of Wusaki are the same quality standards imposed in Europe.

Blades

The blade of each knife is both sharp and beautiful. Its core is made of VG10 steel with 1% of carbon content, which allows the blade to reach a hardness rating of 60 HRC in the Rockwell scale. This high level of hardness enables the blade to remain sharp longer than most types of Western kitchen knives.

Around the core there are 67 layers of damascus steel that provide the knife an optimal balance of flexibility and hardness. The different steel layers create original patterns on the surface, which give the blade an original look. This type of blade construction requires a special expertise that few cutlers have in present years.

The V-shaped edge of each blade has a cutting angle of 15° on each side of the blade (total of 30°). The final sharpening is made by hand with the use of a grinding leather band, which is why the knife is ready to perform precise cuts right out of the box.

In addition, the polished surface gives the blade a mirror effect that adds a final touch of elegance to the look of the knife. Beyond aesthetics, the polished surface also makes the steel less porous, which in turn enhances the steel's resistance to corrosion.

Handles

Elegant and comfortable to hold, they are made of ebony, which is a noble wood characterised for its beauty and robustness. The dark tone of the wood creates a beautiful contrast with the polished steel of the blade, which gives the knives a dazzling look. On top of that, the veinings on the surface are unique on each handle, so no two handles are the same.

The octagonal shape of each handle enables a comfortable grip that adapts to all types of hands. In fact, the handles of all Wusaki knives are a bit longer than average to make the knives easier to maneuver regardless of whether you are a professional or a hobby cook.

Maintenance tips

To preserve the quality of the knives, you must always wash them by hand with lukewarm water and mild soap. Try to prevent to wet the handle as much as possible, because wood does not tolerate humidity very well. Finally, dry your knives using a soft cloth, and finally, store them in a safe place free of humidity. 

You should also know that the blades of the knives come with a slightly oily surface. This is normal as the oil protects the steel of the blades. You simply need to rinse it off before using the knives for the first time.
